Fall is the best time to plant trees, shrubs, and perennials. Our plant sale features a wide selection of natives, perennials for sun or shade, aquatics, houseplants, veggies,  herbs and succulents.

Handcrafted, garden-inspired art created by our very own Master Gardeners, as well as regional artists.

Herbal Make & Take* - Herbs are not just for cooking! Watch Cyndi Wyskiewicz, Portsmouth Extension Agent, demonstrate other ways to use your herbs, then select your own blend of dried herbs to create a sachet. 

Build a Bluebird House* - Using pre-cut/pre-drilled pieces, put together your own bird house to welcome feathered friends to your garden. 

Home Grown Arrangements - Award-winning floral arrangers from the Council of Garden Clubs of Virginia Beach explain how to turn clippings from your yard into beautiful decorations. 

Botanical Spa - Learn the steps to create a soothing spa experience from plants in your garden with Master Gardener Sarah Leland. 

*Make & Take projects available on a first-come basis, while supplies last. There are no fees for demos or make & take projects.

Visit the Children's Area to complete a bee-themed craft, paint rocks, plant seeds and learn about the parts of plants. Waggle dance like a bee to story time featuring Plants Can't Sit Still at 11am & 1pm, or take part in a nature inspired Bingo Scavenger Hunt. 
All Children's Activities are free!

The 2021 Fall Gardening Festival is being planned as an in-person event. Visitors are asked to follow local and state guidelines related to COVID-19 that are in effect at the time of the event. All activities will take place outdoors. These policies are subject to change based on regulations from the state, City of Virginia Beach, and/or Virginia Cooperative Extension.
