Sentara Horticulture Therapy Workshops
Virginia Beach Master Gardeners visit the Virginia Beach Sentara Nursing and Rehab Center to share educational and hands-on experiences in horticulture with the patients.  Patients will be given the opportunity to continue to learn, grow and participate in activities related to nature, horticulture and the world around us.  Some of the programs planned for 2018 include learning how to force bulbs, creating a small dish garden, creating a piece of art work with dried flowers, and creating holiday decor from natural materials.

Seed Library
This project is designed to offer a collection of heirloom and open-pollinated seeds (GMO-free) at the MEO Virginia Beach Central Library.  Any citizen can come into the library and take a package of seeds to grow in their own yard.  Each month there will be different seeds offered, but always one vegetable, one herb and one flower variety.  In addition, educational programs will be offered at the library to share the best methods to produce healthy plants from the seeds offered.  The seed library will be open whenever the library is open.  On the first Monday (from 1-7 pm) and the third Saturday (from 10 am-5 pm) of each month, Master Gardeners will be on-site to answer your questions.

Free Little Library
Master Gardeners support a "Free Little Library" in Virginia Beach.  It is located at HRAREC at 1400 Diamond Springs Road near the theme gardens.   Citizens can come by and take a horticultural-themed book for their own information.

School Garden Workshop
This 8-hour workshop is designed to help teachers create or revamp a school garden and outdoor classroom program. The workshop consists of classroom lecture and hands-on planning activities and covers topics such as site planning, funding, budgeting, garden basics, volunteer management, and student involvement.

Speakers' Bureau
The Virginia Beach Master Gardeners support a Speakers' Bureau that presently includes over 20 different talks on various horticultural topics.  Click here to see the list of topics and to request a program.
