Fall Gardening in October - It's not too late in Tidewater

As the Virginia Beach Master Gardeners celebrate a Virtual Garden Festival, we’re hoping to inspire great gardening this October.   That said, many of you may think it’s too late to start a fall vegetable garden!  Not so!  Let’s get planting!

​Herbs are versatile plants for the garden. They are easy to grow, require little maintenance, and many are perennial, providing years of bountiful harvests.

Fall & Winter Cover Crops for the Home Garden
​The summer is over.  The soil has done a good job providing for crops of tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, etc.  If no fall crops are planned, an excellent idea to rejuvenate the soil is to plant a cover crop.  This is an easy and quick method that will get let nature enrich the soil during this winter downtime.
