Soil moisture:            Prefers moist but well drained soil

Seasonal interest:    Large pink/purple blossoms, white on the inside, a real show stopper, one of the first trees to bloom in the spring.                                  

Value to wildlife:       Birds love the dense structure for nesting, seeds eaten by a variety of birds and squirrels
